Arc-2 Ep-30
50
In the latter half of February, after a long while, a recording session was finally scheduled. It was decided that the new album, to be released in late March, would include a song sung by us sixth-generation members.
That said, it is not a song exclusive to the sixth generation; the other two groups that perform in the mini-lives will each get one song as well. In short, three new songs are being added specifically for the mini-live lineup.
Well, compared to just having songs from the existing internal groups, having some fresh new songs would probably make the fans who come to see us even happier.
◆◆◆―――――――◆◆◆―――――――◆◆◆
“—So what kind of formation will the new song have?”
“Well, unlike the existing Sistema Solare songs we’ve been singing so far, we plan to spread out the singing parts quite a bit.”
“Ohhh~”
“Yay!”
That makes me happy too. After all, the pay is the same no matter how many lines I sing. For me, who has overwhelming popularity among the mini-live group and is already starting to hear talk of acting jobs, I don’t feel the need to put that much effort into the mini-lives.
In about another six months, I should be graduating from the mini-live lineup anyway.
“When will this song be revealed at a mini-live?”
“After the choreography is finished and you all reach a level where you can properly show it to the fans.”
“Does that mean recording comes first?”
“Yes. There’s also schedule coordination with the other mini-live groups, but at the latest we want to unveil it at the mini-live the week before the CD release. I definitely want it to be at a level of completion that makes the fans want to buy it.”
“W-we’ll do our best…!”
For nearly a month, it looks like lessons will turn into practice for the new song. I can practice singing alone, so that’s no problem, but choreography in formation is another story. I have to be careful not to stand out too much with my god-given cheat-level dance ability.
◆◆◆―――――――◆◆◆―――――――◆◆◆
“—‘Minelauva’?”
“The title of the new song is hard to say~”
“All three songs assigned to this round’s mini-live groups are named after stars that make up the constellation Virgo. By the way, the producer is the one who named them.”
[T/N- Minelauva is the official proper name for the star Delta Virginis (δ Vir), It was approved by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as the official star name for Delta Virginis in 2017. Other 7 star would be Spica (α Virginis), Porrima (γ Virginis), Vindemiatrix (ε Virginis), Heze (ζ Virginis) , Syrma (ι Virginis), Zavijava (β Virginis) & Kang (κ Virginis)]
The title of the new song, which was announced by Taneyama-san, our sixth-generation manager, was an unfamiliar word.
Of course it would be; there’s no way I would know the names of stars in a constellation that well. My birthday is in June, so I’m a Gemini, and even for my own zodiac sign, the only ones I know are Castor and Pollux.
“I wonder why it’s Virgo.”
“Maybe because it’s a song about a maiden’s feelings?”
“…That does seem likely.”
Is it going to be a very idol-like song?
Among the members, a lot of us are guessing it’s about one-sided love or a sweet love song.
“The most famous star in Virgo is Spica, but that was already used for a Sistema Solare song.”
“Minelauva is apparently the fourth brightest, Delta Virginis. Which means…”
“The other two song titles are ‘Zavijava’ and ‘Porrima,’ right?”
“Correct.”
Matsuzono-san, the assistant manager, answered Saki-san and Mami-san, who had been searching on their phones. Well, it was an easy guess anyone could make.
“Za… Zavija… va… This one’s hard to say too…”
“The only easy one is Porrima.”
“Don’t worry, the title doesn’t appear in the lyrics. Anyway, let’s work hard on practice for the recording!”
“Yes! Everyone, there isn’t much time until recording, so let’s get fired up!”
“Oooooh!!”
“Understood!!”
Since neither the choreography nor the part assignments are finished yet, we sing the whole thing from beginning to end for practice.
This is the same method we’ve used for previous songs, in case someone is absent and we have to perform with seven or fewer members on the actual stage.
◆◆◆―――――――◆◆◆―――――――◆◆◆
For now, we borrow one practice room and discuss while using the new song (without vocals) that was pre-loaded on the provided tablets as background music.
“Since there’s no reference performance, it feels fresh and nice.”
“When it’s a Sistema Solare or Dwarf Planet, we inevitably get pulled toward the original image.”
With existing songs, we can’t help but be influenced by the group that first performed them. The parts that were handled by the cute little-sister type end up going to the cute little-sister type in other groups too.
The cool sections that were sung by cool members go to similarly cool members. Both the fans and we ourselves have that kind of image ingrained in us. If someone with a completely different image took those parts, it would feel off.
“I wonder what kind of assignment this song will have?”
“Doing the complete opposite could be interesting~”
“If the choreography matches, that might be good too.”
“…Everyone, are you actually reading the lyrics properly?”
Shion-san, who had been staring intently at the distributed sheet music, scolded us for chatting.
“It’s fine.”
“Looking at this, it doesn’t seem like a particularly difficult song.”
“Yes. That’s what I think too.”
“…Shall we try singing it once then?”
“Yes, let’s.”
“Here we go!”
At the sixth-generation leader’s suggestion, everyone casually agreed.
From our experience so far, I also think this new song falls into the “easy to sing” category.
I just hope that feeling isn’t only because I have the god cheat.
◆◆◆―――――――◆◆◆―――――――◆◆◆
““““Aaaaa…♪””””
When we finished singing and the outro ended, everyone silently exchanged glances. I think every sixth-generation member here understands what the others are thinking.
“U-um…”
“This new song…”
“…”
“It’s super easy!!”
“Kanaya-san. Don’t say it so bluntly.”
It’s true that our overall singing level has improved, but even taking that into account, this new song is easy to sing. However, being easy to sing also means there’s room to increase the burden elsewhere.
“That makes the choreography difficulty scary.”
“Y-yeah, definitely!”
“Yes. That’s what worries me too.”
Mami-san and Sayaka-san reacted differently to my comment. Some people were relieved that the singing was easy, while others were already thinking that the choreography would probably be made harder to compensate.
“We should probably prepare ourselves for this to have the highest dance difficulty so far.”
“If that’s the case, an easy-to-sing song actually has its own problems.”
“Chie prefers when both are moderate.”
“Me too~”
Personally, I prefer when the singing is harder than the choreography. Even though stamina and endurance issues have lessened compared to before, I’m still far less experienced at dancing than singing.
I’ll just pray that the choreography isn’t too intense. To the self-proclaimed god who gave me this cheat.
